Welcome to Williston, ND on April 25 and 26

Help us shape our world in Williston, ND next month by attending District 78's Spring Conference on April 25 and 26.  Our main speakers will be International Director Judy Southwick, International Director Candidate from Region IV Lyle Appleyard, and 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking Darren LaCroix.

For Friday Night we are having "Amateur Night at the Comedy Club".  Our activities that night will be at El Rancho Motor Inn.  Plan on taking the stage for up to 2-3 minutes with a tasteful yet boisterous comedy routine.  Our scientifically calibrated Laugh-o-meter will help our judges determine the winner.  After the amateurs are finished, the Pro will step to the plate in the person of Darren LaCroix.  You won't want to miss his presentation Friday Night.  Stay for the Hospitality Room afterwards (and catch a free ride, if needed, back to your hotel if staying elsewhere).

Saturday's events will be at the Williston High School where we will begin our morning in the school's cafeteria room on the lower lever.  The high school is completely accessible at the preferred north side entrance and with an elevator at one of the south side entrances.  Be sure and bring your banners for the Parade of Banners that morning.  We will alternate through several venues within the high school including a theatrical stage (ala Glendive, if you were there) which we will use for all contests.  Plan on attending the noon luncheon catered by a first rate Western barbeque restaurant.

We plan to continue the tradition of the silent auction.  All clubs are encouraged to bring items appropriate to the fund-raising event.

The evening banquet will see us back at El Rancho.  Speaking of motels, a sign of the times occurred last week when one of the 6 motels we have rooms set aside for asked for some rooms back.  With over 150 rooms overall set aside in Williston, I could honor their request and I will make sure that similar requests are handled with our needs in mind.  However, once the deadlines for reservations runs out at the various motels the remaining rooms will likely fill up quickly.  Save money and anxiety by booking your reservations and registrations early.

The Toastmaster world is shaping up for a lot of fun in Williston!  Be there!!!

Randy Keehn, Conference Chair
